2284148015_cd73b6a181_oJohannesburg, South Africa - 16 February 2011 -Multisource, South Africa's leading wireless technology provider, announced today the launch of Trango Systems' second generation Apex all-outdoor microwave backhaul system into the African market. The release consists of two new models, the TrangoLINKApexPlusTM and the TrangoLINK Elite SeriesTM, designed for mobile backhaul in the, Fixed and Mobile Carrier, Government and Enterprise markets.

The announcement was made by Multisource CEO, Richard Smuts-Steyn, on Tuesday, 15 February, in Barcelona, Spain, at the annual GMSA World Mobile Congress.

ApexPlus and the Elite Series build on the foundation of the TrangoLINK systems which has been deployed worldwide for the past 3 years. Both new models share a patent-pending flexible design that allows support for all frequency bands and TR spacings in the 6-40 GHz range, and provides industry-leading total system gain and performance levels..

Interfaces include GigE copper, Fiber and T1/E1 interfaces. Hitless Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) is standard and the systems supports 1+1 Hot standby configurations for full link redundancy. Total possible throughput has been increased to 2 Ghz full duplex on the Elite series

The Orion Elite model features Intelligent Payload Compression (IPCTM), which provides capacity up to 1 Gbps on a single carrier, and is the first licensed band system to incorporate IPsec tunnelling with real time AES256-GCM for NSA Suite B compliance, along with IKEv2 Internet Key Exchange.  TrangoLink's NSA Suite B and FIPS 140-2 compliance presents it UNIQUELY as approved by US Government for use in transmitting Top Secret level data. The TrangoLINK EliteTMSeries takes performance and security to new heights and functionality not available by any competing product in the global market.

Smuts-Steyn says, "The TrangoLINK EliteTM Series and the ApexPlus provide levels of performance, security, and functionality that is simply not available from any competing brand and presents Trango as the clear market leader in licensed band point to point microwave communication systems. It is very exciting for Multisource to be the only company to offer this into Africa".

In a second major announcement at the GMSA, Smuts-Steyn also welcomed its partnership with STM, which brings cost effective rural GSM base stations, satellite hubs, and VSAT terminals to Africa.

STM's SuperPicoTM system employs advanced digital radio technology developed in Norway combined with proven software-defined radio functionality, resulting in a low cost rural GSM solution with advanced picocell technology. Optimised for rural cellular applications, as well as marine and rapid deployments, these small, rugged all-outdoor systems consume less than 35W per TRX, yet provide coverage up to 10 km radius. This results in the lowest power consumption in the industry, per unit of RF output power.
