Johannesburg, South Africa – 19 April 2011 – XConnect Global CEO, Eli Katz, and Samsung Telecommunications Business Development Director Brian Burns, are among a number of high profile local and international speakers that will feature at Multisource's TechNiche 2011 conference and open day to be held on Thursday, 12 May at The Forum in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
In addition to the focus on WiMAX, Long Term Evolution and Interconnect 2.0, TechNiche 2011 will focus on the latest second generation all-outdoor microwave backhaul system. WiMAX and LTE
With a major focus on the development WiMAX and LTE systems in Africa, Brian Burns from Samsung will host a plenary session, focussing on the future of telecommunication.
Mobile WiMAX is the technology that has been designed for IP traffic from the beginning, for wireless broadband services. It provides seamless services to people on the move as the existing wireless Internet does and offers high-speed data services comparable to super-speed Internet. Mobile WiMAX super-speed data services offered to people on the move is closer to 4G, going beyond 3G.
Regulatory environment
Back by popular demand, Kathleen Rice, a Director at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in the firm's Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice, will once again share her insights into the challenges facing the South African telecommunications, media and broadcasting regulatory environment.
Rice is a thought-leader on electronic communication-related and information technology agreements, number applications, frequency spectrum allocation, new licences, and more. She will be joined on stage by Multisource CEO, Richard Smuts-Steyn, to address some of the challenges in choosing products for use on licensed and unlicensed frequencies.
Next Generation Networks and Interconnect 2.0
Eli Katz will present an afternoon keynote session on the future of next generation networks, and Interconnect 2.0. Since Multisource launched Interconnect 2.0 in South Africa with its new strategic partner, XConnect, a large number of developments have taken place.
Other speakers at TechNiche 2011 include Riaan Graham, Director of Sales for Proxim Wireless Corporation; John O'Hara, CEO of Azotel; and Mario Scalco of Multisource, representing Icom - a world leader in wireless communication.
